One-to-One Sound Therapy

I am trained in the BAST method of sound therapy which uses a range of self-reflective techniques, combined with carefully crafted therapeutic sound. In my one-to-one sessions, I will first guide you through a process that is designed to help you identify the issue that you want to work with. I will then create a tailored sound session suited to your individual needs. Working in a one-to-one setting enables a deeper consideration of your personal issues, allows more time for therapeutic reflection and feedback, and constitutes a safe and confidential space where your thoughts and feelings can be explored freely.

I work with a variety of instruments. These may be used in a stand-alone treatment, or may be combined in a mixed method treatment. This will be determined between us before or within the session.

Himalayan Bowls

Himalayan bowls, often referred to as singing bowls or Tibetan bowls, produce sound when they are struck or brushed around the rim, creating a relaxing atmosphere that nurtures both body and mind. As the bowls sing, they offer a warm and soothing experience akin to a sonic cuddle. These instruments create a gentle holding space and can be very beneficial for processing grief, for high anxiety or stress levels, or for chronic pain and physical tension.

In my therapy practice, I use the bowls in both on-body and off-body treatments, tailored to your individual needs:

  • In on-body treatments, I place the bowls directly on your body, allowing the vibrations to resonate through your tissues and cells. This hands-on approach enhances the physical benefits of sound, promoting healing on a deeper level.

  • In off-body sessions, I position the bowls around you, allowing their gentle and resonant tones to fill the space. The enveloping sound creates a tranquil environment that encourages introspection and relaxation. This method is perfect for those seeking to explore the emotional and spiritual aspects of sound therapy.

Monochord

In modern sound therapy, the monochord is an instrument that consists of a resonant wooden body and several synthetic strings that are tuned to the same note. It is used for the therapeutic power of its rich overtones and harmonic qualities. The monochord produces a sound that is deep, powerful, and rhythmic, evoking a soundscape that feels both earthy and oceanic, grounding and expansive, at the same time. The rhythmic qualities of the monochord create a sense of flow, guiding your whole inner system toward relaxation and harmony.

The monochord is particularly beneficial for those who find it difficult to let go, concentrate, or meditate. Its deep vibrations help to facilitate release and enhance focus.

Drum

Drumming has been a powerful tool for healing and transformation since the beginning of human civilisation, and it continues to be used in many different cultures as a gateway between the material world and the spirit world. A steady drum-beat evokes a sense of connection to our heartbeats and to the rhythm of the earth, awakening a dynamic energy within us.

In my sound therapy practice, I tailor each drumming session to meet your specific needs. I work with the concepts of time and anticipation, creating a supportive environment where you can explore the transformative power of rhythm.

I offer a variety of treatments that incorporate the drum, including:

  • Massage Treatments: A massage session involves playing a steady rhythm on the drum a few inches above your body. As the drum is moved over your body, the vibrations penetrate the physical tissue and muscles and enable deep physical relaxation.

  • Drum Journeys: In these immersive experiences, the fast drum-beat will guide you on an inner adventure. This treatment often induces a dream-like state, encouraging an exploration of both your conscious and unconscious beliefs and desires, allowing you to connect with your deeper self.

  • Rhythm of Life: This treatment is designed to align your inner systems through the powerful process of entrainment. This process encourages your brainwaves, breathing, heart rate, and even internal cellular movement to align, fostering a state of deep relaxation and connection.
